Prague Attractions
Hradcanske
Námestí
The home of Bohemian heirs between the eleventh and seventeenth centuries.
The enormous Vladislav Hall is still the site of the country's most important
ceremonies. The castle stands majestically aloof, above Prague yet symbolises
the beauty and elegance of the capital.
The Old Town and Old Town Square
The Old Town Square is surrounded by examples of beautiful architecture;
from the Gothic town palace to the fairy-tale Church of our Lady before
Tyn. One side is taken up with market stalls selling local glass and puppets.
Jazz Club Reduta
The Jazz Club Reduta is one of the most popular jazz venues in Prague, with
live music performances every evening.
Prague State Opera
Seasonal ballet and opera performances. This venue is extremely popular,
making advance booking essential.
National Theatre
Prague's premier venue for opera, ballet and plays. The people
of Prague joined together to finance the theatre after state funding was
refused making this truly a people's venture.
The National Gallery of Ancient Czech Art
The National 's art collection is held over several buildings. The Archbishop's
Palace exhibits the work of artists including Rembrandt, Rodin, Cezanne,
Matisse, Degas and Picasso.

Prague Travel Tips
When to Visit - Arts and Events
Prague has some intriguing festivals, even by European standards. Few cities can match, for instance, the Paleni Carodejnic or Burning of the Witches, a pre-Christian festival for warding off evil which takes place on 30th April. The traditional ceremony has been toned down for modern audiences and now consists of all-night bonfire parties on Kampa Island.
Prague Dining
Prague restaurants are as famous for their magnificent settings as the culinary delights on the menu. Beautiful baroque dining rooms, quirky, atmospheric bohemian bars and restaurants with stunning views over the city offer a sublime choice to suit every mood and every palate. International and local menus are available ranging from the traditional Slavic favourites of rich stews and creative vegetables to the minimalist sophistication of sushi. Some of the finest beers in the world are served in half-litre jugs in excellent no-nonsense pivnices, (public houses), many of which serve food as a sideline. Often restaurants open and close early. For a longer evening's entertainment, many wine bars and hotel lounges are open past midnight.
Prague Tipping Advice
A
gratuity of approximately 10 to 15 percent is standard in restaurants depending
upon the level of satisfaction. Tipping in bars and cafes is not required.
Taxi divers do not usually expect tips although if you are particularly
satisfied with the service, it is acceptable to round up the bill to the
next 5 CSK or 10 CSK. Tip hotel bellboys approximately 30 CSK per item of
luggage.
