The silver screen universe at Warner Bros Movie World, located at Oxenford, reveals the secrets of special effects and has under roof some of the reel's most colourful characters such as the Loone Tunes figures and the Police Academy misfits.

Join the Studio Tour for a behind-the- scenes glimpse of Lethal Weapon or Memphis Belie while photo opportunities are plentiful in Main Street where reel characters mingle with the real. One episode that will quench your thirst for visual extravaganza is Batman Adventure - The Ride, taking you through the dark and dangerous streets of Gotham City.

Dreamworld
Hang ten if you dare on Dreamworld's surfing-themed Wipeout, cuddle a koala or climb aboard the exhilarating double-loop rollercoaster.

The park's themed worlds are filled with the latest action rides, spectacular live shows and attractions. Guests can brave the high-tech Wipeout in Ocean Parade and loop the Ioop of the Thunderbolt Rollercoaster, Australia's fastest.

In Gold Rush Country, travel back through time to a 19th century mining town and hop aboard the runaway mine carts Eureka Mountain or white water raft on Thunder River Rapids Ride.

A chairlift takes guests to Koala Country a peaceful wildlife sanctuary home to koalas kangaroos, wombats and other native Australian animals.

A train trip to Rocky Hollow leads to a 55 km/h splash down on Dreamworld's own Log Ride, while a cruise on the Captain St Paddle Wheeler takes guests to one Australia's most hilarious bushranger shows.

Wet 'n' Wild
For an aquatic hideout, try Wet'n'Wild Water park next to Movie World. Eight hectares of tropical parkland encompass a wavepool, a kiddie pool, a speed slide, twisting slides and a toboggan ride. Daily performances by the speed slide stunt team never fail to captivate.

Ride the descent through the depths of Dark Terror Canyon or the swirling white water of the Lazy River Rapids, part of the park's new $2 million White Water Mountain attraction.

Cable Ski World
Dive from a 16-storey bungee tower, learn to ski without the roar of power boats or try the reverse bungee jump with the Slingshot.

Sanctuary Cove
Shoot up to the hills for a barbecue lunch at Possum Lodge overlooking the Coomera River or live the life of a millionaire without going broke.

At Sanctuary Cove you can enjoy lively street entertainment, shop in boutiques, art and craft galleries, dine in themed and waterfront restaurants or savour a refreshing beer in the brewery. Cruise boat access makes this fabulous resort a popular spot for boaties and an ideal port for houseboat adventurers. Sanctuary Cove and nearby Hope Island Resort extend a warm welcome to visitors to take advantage of their state-of-the-art sporting facilities including championship golf courses.

Sea World
Playful dolphins, sea lion antics and regal penguins delight the crowds at Sea World, found at The Spit, Main Beach. Conducted tours will introduce you to friendly marine life while feeding sessions at the Shark Encounter will leave you marvelling at the bravery of local divers.

Australia's longest running live show, the International Ski Spectacular offers a display of exciting stunts, jumps, somersaults and water antics. More adrenalin-pumping action comes in the form of the Corkscrew Rollercoaster. For a journey into the unknown, board a 'lifeboat' and enter the new Bermuda Triangle.

Currumbin Sanctuary
Koalas, emus, dingoes, wombats, kangaroos, wallabies and more jostle for limelight at Currumbin Sanctuary. This nature parkland also contains one of country's largest subtropical rainforest aviaries. Board the miniature train for guided tour of exhibits and displays.

Fleay's Wildlife Park
Near Burleigh West, at Fleay's Wildlife Park delve into the darkness of a new Nocturnal House and meet some wonderfully shy creatures of the night. The mysteries of native bush food and medicine sources are revealed at Fleay's but centre stage at this wetland reserve belongs to Australian birdlife and fauna.

Gold Coast Dining

A mix of cultures and influences has turned the Gold Coast into a culinary capital. There are over 500 restaurants to choose from, so dining out is very much an integral part of the vacation scene.

Gold Coast Tipping Advice

No service charge applies in Australia. Tipping is not mandatory but a 10% tip in restaurants and hotel bars is normal for good service. Waiters and waitresses do not rely on tips for their income, but tips are an incentive to performance as bad service usually results in no tip. Bar staff in pubs are happy with loose change. Taxi drivers do not expect tips, but it is usual to `round-up' the fare to the nearest dollar or two - a little more if you have plenty of luggage or the driver has been particularly helpful. And some cabbies round down if they've had a good chat - $20.30 may result in "make it $20. Visitors may wish to tip a tour guide or tourist coach driver, though this is not expected either.
